Keeping Us Strong and Funded: Meet Kathryn
Behind every safe night of shelter, every therapy session, and every healing moment at Newhouse, there’s a team making sure we have the resources to keep going—including the amazing Kathryn.
For the past two years, Kathryn has worked behind the scenes to secure funding, uphold financial accountability, and ensure we meet every promise made to survivors and supporters alike. Today, we’re celebrating her heart, hard work, and the importance of her role in our mission.
From billing to big impact
Kathryn started at Newhouse as the Billing + Compliance Manager and now proudly serves as our Grant + Compliance Manager. She oversees the grant cycle—managing budgets, submitting reports, handling reimbursements, and ensuring our agency stays compliant with funding partners.
In short: she keeps the wheels turning so our teams can focus on life-changing work with survivors.
And her impact is massive—just in 2024, she helped secure more than $1.4 million in funding for Newhouse. Wow!
From billing to big impact
“Newhouse was my first job in the nonprofit sector, and it changed my life,” Kathryn says. “I support survivors because I believe everyone deserves to feel safe and loved. There is no excuse for abuse in any relationship.”
Though she hasn’t personally experienced domestic violence, her mission is deeply personal—three of her close friends are survivors of extreme, near-death situations. Their stories fuel her purpose every day.
A moment she’ll never forget
One of Kathryn’s most cherished memories was attending a Chiefs event with a Newhouse resident/survivor and her two sons.
“Their smiles, the laughter, and the hugs we shared—it will stay with me forever,” she said. “It reminded me why this work matters so much.”
A message to survivors
“You can do this. You deserve better. I love you.”
She also wants survivors to know: “It’s possible to get away. There are people and services that will help you every step of the way. You are capable of anything.”

Life outside of Newhouse
Kathryn is full of life and joy beyond the office—she loves dancing, catching up on Bravo shows, discovering new restaurants, and spending time with her husband Andrew and their two kids, Otto (6) and Luna (5) – as of May 2025.
Driven by purpose
“Newhouse opened my eyes to the real challenges in our community,” Kathryn said. “But more importantly, I feel empowered to make change—and that is my new drive.”
Thank you, Kathryn, for your dedication to survivors and your unstoppable energy behind the scenes. You make Newhouse stronger every single day.
