I’m Ashlie, a therapist at Newhouse, and I want to shine a light on one of my amazing clients—a brave mom healing from domestic violence for herself and her sweet toddler. She’s overcome so much, drawing strength from her child every step of the way.

One of the most powerful moments I’ll never forget was during a therapy session when her baby took their very first steps. To witness a child’s first steps in the same room where her mother has been taking such courageous steps in her own healing—that was beyond words.

To any survivor reading this: every step of your healing journey matters. Even if it feels small, or like one step forward and two steps back, every step counts. You are not alone—you can do this.
